Grounded

There are days when parenting is really hard.

My younger girl took off today with a neighborhood friend and we had no idea where they were. I went looking for her but with no luck. The other girl’s mother then got a phone call from a friend who had seen our two runaways on the terrace of restaurant at the nearby spa. We jumped in the car and raced over there. I found my girl in such a sorry state – dirty and disheveled. She had obviously been doing a lot of things we don’t approve of. She sheepishly got in the car without a word of explanation and I took her home. Once there I sent her immediately to the porch and said she had to stay there for the next few hours. In the meantime, she could think about what she had done.
