10 Things I Love About This Country

Oh my guilty conscience!

After my rant of a few days ago – and I will excuse myself just a little here by saying that I was worried about my suffering daughter, so probably expressed myself less diplomatically than I might otherwise have while writing about a subject that has been bothering me, sometimes more, sometimes less, for the better part of the past 30 years, (pardon me while a take a breath) – I suddenly feel the need to make it up to my adopted country and hopefully minimize the psychic pain inflicted on all three of my Austrian readers. So here it goes . . .

10 Things I Love About Austria

1. The friendliness of the Finance Ministry officials during my tax audit interviews.

2. No shopping on Sundays.

3. The thirteen extra (religious) holidays.

4. Theatercafé

5. Pretty much everything about Vienna.

6. Swiss chocolate.

7. Czech beer.

8. Dog-friendly restaurants.

9. Generosity.

10. Orchkatzerlschworfe.

  1. no need to feel guilty. Pretty much everything you said in your last post is correct. And pretty much everything here, too. But for the chocolate and beer :)))
